The Devonport Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) held its 85th Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday, attended by more than 30 people. Re-elected Chamber President Claire Connelly addressed members and guests, presenting the 2024–25 Annual Report, which highlighted a year of record growth and strong community engagement.
Key Achievements
Over the past year, the Chamber achieved significant milestones:
• Welcomed 49 new members, bringing total membership to 165
• Recorded a $40,000 increase in corporate sponsorship
• Secured $16,500 in grant funding for new projects and initiatives
• Hosted a record-breaking International Women’s Day breakfast, with 135 attendees
• Delivered the inaugural Tasmanian Business Conference and Women in Business Summit, which drew over 250 delegates and featured world-class speakers
These successes were complemented by a busy calendar of advocacy, networking, and professional development events, solidifying the Chamber’s leadership role in supporting Devonport’s business community.
Executive Team and Election Results
Buoyed by the Chambers’s success, all Executive Members sought re-election in some capacity, with three nominees contesting a casual vacancy. The election results for available positions were:
• President: Claire Connelly
• Senior Vice President: Tina Treloar
• Vice President: Matthew Jordan
• Treasurer: Alyssa Mahar
• Executive Member: James Foster
• Executive Member: Tyler Page
Re-elected for her third consecutive term, President Claire Connelly attributed the Chamber’s achievements to the “commitment and generosity” of her team and its supporters.
“I’m fortunate to be supported by a group of passionate, capable “doers”. We’re all “roll-your-sleeves up” kind of people, which is great for Devonport.” Mrs Connelly said. “We couldn’t do what we do without the backing of our businesses, employers, families and sponsors – especially Synectic, who provide me with the flexibility to lead because they believe in Devonport and supporting the community.”
Mrs Connelly also thanked nominees who missed out in this year’s election, encouraging them to remain engaged and to continue contributing to the Chamber’s growing network.
