Kylie Bell

Chair Tourism Sub Committee

Kylie joined the Chamber’s Executive Committee in July 2022 and is the owner of Compass Hut; tiny-house-on-wheels accommodation just outside of Devonport.

Kylie grew up in the Devonport region, on her family’s farm and has a background in organic agriculture. Kylie also attended the School of Architecture & Design before becoming Director of Wagonhaus Co Pty Ltd in 2017; Tasmania’s first tiny-house-on-wheels building company, and Australia’s third.

Her background from agriculture in the north-west and training formed part of the foundation for her interest in sustainability, business and regional communities.

In 2019, Kylie returned to the north-west coast to co-found and launch Compass Hut on the family’s organic farm near Devonport. Since that time, Compass Hut has achieved a range of media such as Qantas Travel Insider, Escape, among others, and is set to launch their third tiny house in late 2022. Kylie was awarded the 2021 Tourism Minister’s Young Achiever Award and was a finalist in the 2022 7News Tasmanian Young Achiever Awards (tourism & hospitality).

She is an active participant in the Tasmanian tourism industry, and recently established and is lead coordinator of the Mersey Valley Tourism Group.
