A message from our President

Dear Members and Friends,

It’s been an exciting few weeks for Devonport and DCCI, with only 161 days until Christmas!
Firstly, congratulations to Devonport for being awarded Tasmania’s Top Tourism Town by the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania. As Premier Rockliff recently noted, “Devonport is a vibrant hub of the iconic Cradle Mountain region, an ideal launchpad for day trip exploration and for its newly developed waterfront precinct” – we couldn’t agree more.
We believe Devonport is the perfect basecamp to explore some of the best tourism experiences our region has to offer. We look forward to continuing to work with the tourism industry and local businesses to ensure Devonport continues to thrive. This week marks another significant stage in the transformation of our City, as we celebrate the unveiling of the Devonport Sound & Light Show “From Sky to Sea”. Our City will continue to shine with Music by the Waterfront – a free event set to take place at Haines Park on Saturday.

We’ve been busy continuing to deliver a diverse range of events and finalising our 2024/25 annual plan and advocacy priorities in preparation for the upcoming federal election. Stay tuned for some exciting new projects and initiatives coming soon.

Next week, we’re hosting our second employment related workshop in partnership with the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TCCI) – Common Mistakes Employers Make with their Staff. And, have teamed up with Business Tasmania along with our friendly neighbouring business associations to bring you another free event at the end of July – Exit Strategies For Small Business.

Join us on 7 August with Abe Udy from Abe’s Audio. From humble beginnings to leading a successful audio productive company, Abe will share some insights around the transformational power of podcasting for business growth. One lucky attendee will win a podcast package, valued at $6,500!

Please fill out our short quarterly Business Pulse Check survey – a new initiative introduced to help us improve our services and understand how we can better support our members and advocate on your behalf.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members – Pay the Piper Investments, Jeffrey Studio’s, Employment Plus – The Salvation Army and Left Field, we’re thrilled to have you involved. Your involvement strengthens our advocacy efforts. Did you know, that if you are a member of DCCI you receive TCCI member benefits and access to a range of support services?

DCCI is a member organisation and our Board, consisting of volunteer Executive Members, we’re here to support you, and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
