President’s Welcome

Dear Members and Friends,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful festive season and are ready to embark on an exciting new year together.

As we step into 2025, I am thrilled to share some updates and plans for the year ahead.

Our Executive team is ready to serve you for another year and we’re eager to build on the momentum from last year. We have plans to introduce new initiatives that will benefit all our members and over the coming months, we will focus on:

  • Showcasing our new and long-standing members in different ways
  • Hosting informal networking events to encourage more involvement by non-member businesses
  • Revamping our Business Awards strategy and delivery format
  • Delivering major events to promote Devonport as a premier business events and tourism destination

We are also excited to welcome our newest members to our growing community, Unbound Massage and Myotherapy, and Rare Innovation Pty Ltd. Our network now represents around 140 businesses across the greater Devonport region.

This month we resume our regular breakfast events, as we introduce a variety of new events and initiatives, our regular breakfast events are scheduled every four weeks, you can see all our planned breakfast dates at the end of this email.

I look forward to working with all of you to make 2025 a successful and prosperous year for our business community.

International Women’s Day Breakfast

Our first major event for the year is our flagship International Women’s Day Breakfast on Friday 7 March 2025 with Tasmania JackJumpers CEO, Christine Finnegan.

This year’s theme is #AccelerateAction. According to data from the World Economic Forum at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity.

“What’s On Your Plate?” Roundtable Breakfast

Kick off the year with our first breakfast event, “What’s on Your Plate?”, an informal roundtable for local businesses to share their priorities and challenges for the year ahead.

This is your chance to connect with fellow business leaders, discuss your biggest opportunities and hurdles, and help shape the Devonport Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s advocacy efforts for 2025.

Join us for our first DCCI Economic Outlook business luncheon featuring the Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP, Premier of Tasmania, the Hon Guy Barnett MP, Deputy Premier of Tasmania and Treasurer, and Rufus Black, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Tasmania

This event will provide attendees with valuable economic insights and discuss key issues affecting business within our region.

Tasmanian Survey of Business Expectations
2024 Q4

The TSBE for quarter four of 2024 is out now.

Take a few minutes to share your expectations for the Australian and Tasmanian Economy now and for the future.

The survey results are used to inform the TCCI’s advocacy efforts. A Quarterly Tasmanian Statistics Pack is then compiled from this data and used to identify trends and advocate on behalf of Tasmanian businesses.
